The Wyoming Toad was once abundant in southeastern Wyoming. Today, the IUCN Redlist of Threatened Species lists it as Extinct in the Wild. Possible causes for the decline include pollution, pesticides, and habitat destruction. A captive breeding program is making inroads to re-establish a wild population.
